Hotfix Information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Systems Management Server 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. File Information
The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Hotfix Installation Instructions
At a minimum, you must apply this hotfix to all secondary sites in the Systems Management Server (SMS) hierarchy. To install the hotfix, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Use the Hotfix Installer
Note You can use this method only on Intel-based computers.
To use the hotfix installer, follow these steps:
- Copy the hotfix folder structure (supplied by a Microsoft Support Professional) to a share on your network.
Note The Sms2.0-kb820732-sp5-x86-enu.exe file is a Microsoft SMS Installer file that updates specific
files on your site server. - Log on to the secondary site server as an administrator.
- On the secondary site server, quit the SMS Administrator console if it is running.
- On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Locate the folder where you copied the Sms2.0-kb820732-sp5-x86-enu.exe file in step 1.
- Double-click the Sms2.0-kb820732-sp5-x86-enu.exe file, and then follow the directions in the Installation Wizard.
You can run the file in Quiet mode by using the /s switch, as in the following example:
Sms2.0-kb820732-sp5-x86-enu.exe /s
Method 2: Manually Install the Hotfix
To manually install the hotfix, follow these steps:
- On the secondary site server, quit the SMS Administrator console if it is running.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
- Right-click each of the following services, and then click Stop (for each service):
- SMS Site Component Manager
- SMS Executive
- Windows
Management
- SMS SQL Monitor
- Replace the Basesvr.dll file in the Sms_root_folder\Bin\architecture
folder with the version of the file that is included with this hotfix, where Sms_root_folder is the folder that contains your SMS installation, and architecture is your installation architecture (either i386 or ALPHA).
- Return to the Services console.
- Right-click each of the following services, and then click Start (for each service):
- SMS Site Component Manager
- SMS Executive
- Windows
