Different text levels use the same numbering format (820710)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office OneNote 2003
- Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, Service Pack 1 (SP1)
SYMPTOMSWhen you type a multilevel list in OneNote, and then apply a numbering style to the list, the selected numbering style is applied to every level of the list.
For example, when you apply the 1,2,3 numbering style to a multilevel list, the result is - First Level
- Second Level
- Second Level
instead of - First Level
- Second Level
- Second Level
CAUSEThis problem may occur if you do one of the following: - You use the Numbering button's Most Recently Used drop-down list.
-or- - You use the Numbering task pane.
Note This problem does not occur if you click the Numbering button and do not use the Most Recently Used drop-down list.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following methods. Method 1 If you want to use the default multilevel numbering style, you can select the whole multilevel list, and then click the Numbering button. Clicking this button removes the current numbering style and also applies the new numbering style.
Method 2 If you want to use a multilevel numbering style other than the default, you must select each level in the list separately, and then apply the appropriate numbering style only to the selected level. After you apply a numbering style to a level, OneNote uses that same numbering style in any new lines that are created in that level.
