OneNote is listed as a running program in Windows Task Manager although you have not run OneNote 2003 (820707)

RESOLUTION

To turn off the quick launch functionality of Side Note, right-click the Open new side note icon in the notification area, and then click Remove OneNote Icon. When you do this, OneNote does not run in the background. Additionally, OneNote is not listed as a running program in Windows Task Manager when OneNote is not running.

To restore the quick launch functionality of Side Note, follow these steps:

1. To start OneNote, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. In the Options dialog box, click Other in the Category list.
4. In the Other section, click to select the Place OneNote icon in the taskbar check box.
5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

Important The Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Quick Launch shortcut is required for the correct operation of the quick launch functionality of Side Note. If the Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Quick Launch shortcut is missing from the Startup folder, run Detect and Repair to complete the restoration of the quick launch functionality of Side Note. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start OneNote. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.
2. On the Help menu in OneNote, click Detect and Repair.
3. In the Detect and Repair dialog box, click to select the Restore my shortcuts while repairing check box (if not selected), and then click Start.
