PRB: "Duplicate Record" Error Message When You Try to Create an Ad That Has the Same Name as an Ad That Was Deleted (819846)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft TV Foundation Server 1.0
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to create an ad that has the same name as an ad that was deleted, you receive the following error message: Duplicate record CAUSEMicrosoft TV Foundation Server is dependent on the Microsoft Commerce Server Business Desk (BizDesk). This problem occurs because BizDesk does not completely remove records that are deleted in Campaign Manager.
BizDesk archives deleted records so that you can restore a deleted campaign item (for example, an ad and its associated hierarchy). Therefore, you cannot create an ad that has the
same name as an ad that has been deleted.STATUS
This behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONIn BizDesk, you can use Campaign
Manager to delete customers, campaigns, or campaign items when they are no longer required. When you delete a customer, BizDesk archives the customer record and all campaigns and campaign items that are associated with that customer record. You can use Campaign Manager to restore this information from the archive.
The Campaign Manager module is
organized hierarchically by customer, campaign, and campaign items. When you
delete customers, campaigns, or campaign items, the delete process occurs down the
hierarchical tree. For example, if you delete a customer, the campaigns and
the campaign items for that customer are also deleted.
When you restore campaign
items, you must restore up the hierarchical tree. For example, if you want to restore
a campaign item, you must also restore the campaign and
the customer records that the campaign item is associated with.REFERENCES
