PRB: WinZip Process Remains in Memory When the Antivirus Program Is Not Set to Exclude Compressed Files (819844)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft TV IPG uses the WinZip Computing, Inc. WinZip program to uncompress the listing files that Tribune Media Services (TMS) provides. Sometimes, the WinZip process (Winzip.exe) may remain in memory after the process has completed.

CAUSE

This problem might occur because the antivirus program is not configured correctly.

RESOLUTION

Add the following file name extensions to the exclusion list of your antivirus program:
  • FSF
  • TXT
  • Z
  • ZIP

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
