FIX: Cluster Service Node Experiences Failover When Services for UNIX is Installed (819513)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 2.3 OEM Only
  • Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When Windows Services for UNIX (SFU) is installed, a node may occasionally experience failover. This symptom may occur when the node is started. You may also not be able to move resources back to the node.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the port mapper service has too many uncompleted tasks. Eventually, these incomplete tasks can block other system tasks, such as calls to ping. This blockage can cause several symptoms, including node failover.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
