An "Event ID 489: The system cannot find the path specified" error is logged in the Application event log when you restore SharePoint Portal Server data to another computer (817944)

SYMPTOMS

When you back up content from a SharePoint Portal Server-based computer, and you then restore the data to another SharePoint Portal Server-based computer, an event similar to the following may be logged to the Application event log. Type: Error

Event ID: 489
Description:
An attempt to open the file "Drive:\Program Files\SharePoint Portal Server\DATA\eeaf336f-97c5-4fe8-b6d8-ef239bd1cc5a\Sps.edb" for read only access failed with system error 3 (0x00000003): "The system cannot find the path specified." The open file operation will fail with error -1023 (0xfffffc01). This behavior occurs even though the restore operation (including the migration of index information) is successful.

WORKAROUND

If the restore operation is successful, ignore the event ID that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
