Web Folder Mappings Contain the Characters "%20" When You Copy and Paste a URL (817928)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMSWhen a you try to add a Web folder mapping to a SharePoint
Team Services document library by copying and pasting the Web folder's URL ,
you find that the URL now contains the following characters: %20. You have to
remove the "%20" characters before the address is accepted for the Web
folder.CAUSEWhen you paste a Web address, any blank spaces in the URL
are replaced with the blank space code, %20. The blank spaces in the URL are
automatically translated into the "%20" characters.WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, you must type the Web folder
address manually.
For example, when you copy the URL from the browser,
it looks similar to http://server/Shared%20Documents. Either your attempt to create a Web folder with this URL is
unsuccessful, or the network place or Web folder is created at http://server. To create the Web folder correctly, type the URL without the
%20: http://server/shared documents. STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
