FP2002: Hover Button and Banner Add Manager Do Not Preview Correctly (817697)

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Preview tab after you add one or more Hover buttons and Banner Ads to your Web page in FrontPage 2002, the Hover buttons and Banner Ads appear as "broken graphics" in the Preview window.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because when you select the Preview tab in FrontPage, the Web page is fetched from the Temporary Internet Files folder and appears in the Preview window. The Web Component and Dynamic Effects files do not reside in the Temporary Internet Files folder however, they reside either in FrontPage itself or in your My Webs folder if you have saved the Web page. When you use the Preview in Browser feature of FrontPage, you are viewing the actual files in your My Webs folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save your Web page, and then preview it by clicking Preview in Browser on the File menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
