Windows Server 2003 Stops Responding During the Windows Update Process (817691)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows Update to install new drivers on your computer, and you also have Hewlett-Packard (HP) SecurePath multi-path software installed on your computer, you may experience errors during driver installation that cause your computer to abruptly stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs only with certain versions of HP SecurePath multi-path software.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
