A PPPoE server was not found. Check these possible causes:
  • A cable is not connected. Check that all cables are connected correctly.
  • You have changed how your Xbox console is connected to the network. In Network Settings, set PPPoE Configuration to Off.
  • Your Internet service is not working. Try again later.

Note The error message in this article applies to version 4920 of the Xbox Dashboard. If you use a different version of the Xbox Dashboard, you may receive a similar, but different, error message.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Verify that your Internet service provider (ISP) uses PPPoE authentication. If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, turn PPPoE off in the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard:
    1. On the Main Menu screen, press the directional pad (D-pad) up or down to select Settings, and then press the A button.
    2. On the Settings screen, press the D-pad down to select Network Settings, and then press the A button.
    3. On the Network Settings screen, press the D-pad down to select PPPoE Settings, and then press the A button.
    4. On the PPPoE Settings screen, press the D-pad up or down to select Configuration, and then press the A button to toggle between the On and Off settings.
  2. You may also experience this error if your ISP's PPPoE server is experiencing problems. Wait, and then try to connect again later.
