XL: The Excel Chart Prints with Jagged Edges and a Different Font (817363)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a Microsoft Word document that contains a Microsoft Excel chart, the font of the Excel chart text may change, and the lines may appear jagged.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You paste the chart as a linked Microsoft Excel Chart object.

    -and-
  • You break the link of the Microsoft Excel Chart object.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, copy the Excel chart as a picture. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. With the Excel chart selected, hold SHIFT, and then click Copy Picture on the Edit menu.
  2. In the Copy Picture dialog box, click As shown when printed, and then click OK.
  3. In Microsoft Word, on the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  4. In the Paste Special dialog box, click Paste Link, click Picture, and then click OK.
