Selection of Data View May Be Lost After Momentary Selection (817124)

SYMPTOMS

When you click and drag to select a Data View such as the announcements list in your Web page, the list may be momentarily selected, and then the selection is lost and the pointer is moved to beside the list.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you select the list in Design view by clicking and dragging from the bottom to the top of the list, and if your mouse pointer passes over the top of the <form> tag above the list.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click inside the list. Move the mouse pointer to the border of the list, and when the mouse pointer changes to a four-ended arrow, click the border to select the list.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
