SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Configure Your Server tool (Cys.exe), both
installation and removal may fail with the Routing and Remote Access Server
role. The Configure Your Server Wizard may not work, and you may receive an
error message that is similar to the following: The
Configure Your Server Wizard cannot finish setting up this server as a remote
access/VPN server. A problem occurred during the completion of the Routing and
Remote Access Server Setup Wizard. To correct this problem, open the Routing
and Remote Access console. CAUSEIf the server node for Routing and Remote Access Server has
been removed by deletion from the Routing and Remote Access Management Console
(Rrasmgmt.msc), later attempts to use the Configure Your Server Wizard to
enable or disable Routing and Remote Access Server will result in similar error
messages.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use the Routing and Remote
Access console to add or remove Routing and Remote Access:
- In the right pane, locate the local server.
- Right-click the local server, and then click
Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access. Note that you
can instead choose to disable it.
- Follow the instructions in the Routing and Remote Access
Server Setup Wizard to enable the Routing and Remote Access Server.
To add a node you previously removed:
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Open box, type
rrasmgmt.msc.
- Click OK.
- To add a server, click Server Status, and
then click Add Server.
- Click Add This Computer.
- Click OK.
