Disk Administrator Stops Responding When You Try to Create More Than 61 Logical Drives (816864)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Disk Administrator tool to create more than 61 logical drives in the free space of an extended partition, Disk Administrator stops responding when you click Commit Changes Now.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because in Windows NT 4.0, 61 is the limit of the number of logical drives that you can create in an extended partition.

RESOLUTION

There is a hotfix available for Windows NT 4.0 that will change the behavior of Disk Administrator so that it displays an error message when you try to create more than 61 logical drives.
