You Receive an Error Message When You Try to Forward or to Reply to a Digitally Signed E-Mail Message (816830)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to forward or to reply to a digitally signed e-mail message from a mail account without a digital ID in Outlook Express, you receive the following error message: You do not have a digital ID CAUSEThis problem occurs because Outlook Express tries to send the e-mail message with a digital signature even if there is not a digital ID present for the forwarding mail account.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, turn off the Digitally sign option before you reply or forward the digitally signed e-mail message. To do this, follow these steps: - After you click theReply or the Forwardbuttons on the e-mail message, click theTools menu.
- Verify that the Digitally sign check box is not selected. Click to clear the Digitally sign check box if it is selected.
- Click Send.
