BUG: Harvester Does Not Push Files to the Carousel File Server (816727)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft TV IPG 1.1
  • Microsoft TV IPG 1.5

SYMPTOMS

The CS-1000 harvester does not process files. The file names of guide files, trigger files, and command files have 5 leading spaces when they arrive in the staging directory in the carousel file system (CFS).

CAUSE

This problem occurs under the following conditions:
  • You use the Microsoft TV Server Content Update Utility to push guide data to the CS-1000 harvester.

    -and-
  • You use a cut-and-paste operation to edit the CFS Staging Dir field in the Carousel File Server dialog box of the headend configuration tool.
When you use a cut-and-paste operation to edit the staging directory entry, five spaces are added to the beginning of the file names of the data files that the harvester creates and sends to the CFS staging directory. Because of these extra spaces, the CS-1000 cannot process the files in the staging directory.

For example, a file named MSTV/file1 arrives in the staging directory as "MSTV/space,space,space,space,spacefile1".

WORKAROUND

When you edit the CFS Staging Dir field in the Carousel File Server dialog box of the headend configuration tool, verify that there are no extra spaces in the field.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
