SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a Windows 2000 Server-based computer that is running VERITAS Volume Manager (or another VERITAS program that installs and enables the VERITAS Enterprise Administrator Service) to Windows Server 2003, the VERITAS Enterprise Administrator Service may be disabled.

You are not notified during the system compatibility check that you perform before you upgrade to Windows Server 2003 (or in the Setup.log file) that there is a compatibility issue and that this service must be disabled before you run Windows Server 2003 Setup.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, enable the VERITAS Enterprise Administrative Service after you upgrade the computer to Windows Server 2003. To do so:
  1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the right pane, double-click Veritas Enterprise Administrative Service.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Startup type box, do one of the following:
    • To configure the service to start automatically when the computer starts, click Automatic.
    • To configure the service to start when you manually start it, click Manual.

Note Services that are configured with a manual startup type do not start when the computer starts.
  5. Click OK.
