SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer to connect to a Commerce Server 2002 site from a Windows Server 2003-based computer, you may find that animated .gif images on Web pages do not appear as expected.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the Play animations in web pages setting in Internet Explorer is turned off.

By default, the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature is enabled in Internet Explorer on Windows Server 2003-based computers, and the Play animations in web pages setting is turned off.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn on the Play animations in web pages setting in Internet Explorer. To do so:
  1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Settings box, under Multimedia, click to select the Play animations in web pages check box, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

The Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature configures a number of security settings that define how you browse Internet and intranet Web sites. The configuration also reduces the exposure of your server to Web sites that may possibly pose a security risk.

For more information about Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration, see the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration Help topic. To do so, on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, start Internet Explorer, and then on the Help menu, click Enhanced Security Configuration.
