Cannot Connect to Class Server 2.0 Administrator Web Site After You Install Internet Explorer Hardening Pack (816716)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, when used with:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
SYMPTOMSAfter you install the Internet Explorer Hardening Pack, you
cannot connect to a Microsoft Class Server Web site. When you try to log on to
the server, you receive the following error message: Connection Failed
There is a problem connecting with your school server.
Please try again, or contact a teacher or school server administrator. Make sure you reference any error codes that appear below (if any).
Your Internet browser is not currently set to run scripting on Web pages. In Internet Explorer, you must change this setting from within the Internet Options dialog Security tab in order to continue using Class Server - Administrator. Please refer to the Internet Explorer online Help for more information. CAUSEThis problem occurs because of the increased security settings
provided in the Internet Explorer Hardening Pack.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the
Security tab.
- Click Trusted sites, and then click Sites.
- Type the name of the Class Server Web site as
http://localhost, click Add, and then click OK.
The local class server is added to the
list of Trusted Sites. - Click Trusted sites, and then click Custom
Level.
- Click Enable Download signed ActiveX
Controls.
- Click Enable Run ActiveX Controls and
plug-ins.
- Click Enable Script ActiveX Controls marked
safe for scripting.
- Click OK, and then click OK.
- Start Microsoft Class Server Administrator 2.0.
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
