Crystal Reports Component of SMS 2.0 Is Not Supported on Windows Server 2003 (816694)


The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Premium Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) on a server that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you notice that the Crystal Reports component is also installed. If you run the Crystal Reports program, you may experience unexpected behavior or unstable program operation.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because while SMS 2.0 SP4 is supported on Windows Server 2003, the Crystal Reports program that is included with SMS 2.0 SP4 is not supported on Windows Server 2003. Crystal Reports was part of the original SMS 2.0 program. It is replaced by the Systems Management Server 2.0 Web Reporting Tool but is still included in the SMS 2.0 SP4 program package.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, install the SMS Web Reporting Tool. This free program is included in the SMS Administration Feature Pack. For additional information about how to obtain this program, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
