SYMPTOMS

The SQL Server CE Server Tools Web Service Extensions on your computer may be removed if either of the following conditions is true:
  • You upgrade from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003 on the computer running SQL Server CE 1.1 or SQL Server CE 2.0.

    -or-
  • You install SQL Server CE Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a computer running Windows Server 2003.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, create a SQL Server CE virtual directory. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server CE version, and then click Configure Connectivity Support in IIS.
  2. In the right pane of the SQL Server CE Connectivity Management window, double-click Create a Virtual Directory.
  3. Follow the instructions in the SQL Server CE Virtual Directory Creation Wizard to create the SQL Server CE virtual directory.
