Audio and Video May Not Work in NetMeeting on Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 1 (816492)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Embedded

SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows NetMeeting on Microsoft Windows XP Embedded runtimes, audio or video (or both) may not work correctly.

This problem may occur when you try to connect to another Microsoft Windows XP-based or Windows XP Embedded-based device that is running NetMeeting.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the NetMeeting component in Windows XP Embedded does not have a dependency on the Quality of Service (QoS) RSVP component.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, add the Quality of Service RSVP component to runtimes that also contain NetMeeting.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The QoS RSVP component includes a service that performs RSVP signaling on behalf of Windows Sockets Specification 2 applications. The protocol that is used for signaling is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard that is according to request for comment (RFC) 2202.
