SYMPTOMSWhen you try to preview video or still images from an imaging device (for example, from a USB camera) in My Computer, you may receive the following error message: Video Preview Failure Creation of the video preview failed. Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or user. CAUSEThis problem may occur if you unplug the imaging device and then plug it back in without restarting My Computer.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, quit and then restart My Computer. If this does not resolve the problem, restart your computer.STATUS

MORE INFORMATIONYou receive the error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article when the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service reports to the WIA Camera View DLL (Camocx.dll) that the camera device is not present. If you unplug your camera and then plug it back in, WIA may incorrectly report that the device does not exist until your restart My Computer or you restart Windows XP.
