The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe 2003
- Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to start Microsoft Encarta 2003 on the Tablet PC, you may receive an error message similar to the following: Encarta performs best when your computer screen has a screen area setting of at least 800x600. Your current setting is lower and may prevent parts of Encarta from functioning correctly. CAUSEThis behavior may occur when your screen resolution on the Tablet PC in Portrait mode is lower than the optimum resolution for Encarta 2003. The optimum resolution for Encarta is 800 x 600. The TabletPC in Portrait mode displays at a resolution of 768 x 600. The warning message is displayed in Portrait mode only and will not affect the performance of Encarta in any mode.WORKAROUNDThere is currently no resolution to this behavior. If you change the display resolution as described in the following steps, the message will disappear. However, this may also affect the display of Encarta Videos and other multimedia programs. Microsoft does not recommend that you change the display resolution. The dialog will appear each time you start Encarta. Click OK in the dialog box to remove the warning message. If you want to remove this message permanently, follow these steps to change the screen resolution setting: - Right-click an empty area of the desktop, and then click Properties.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Under Screen resolution, move the slider to 600 x 800 or 768 x 1024, and then click OK.
