  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001
  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 SRP2
  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002

SUMMARY

Note This article describes the Custom SCAPI Configuration Utility. You can only use this utility after you apply the hotfix that the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article describes:

331111 Stability and Performance Issues May Occur for Busy CMS Sites

If you want to configure custom SCAPI settings to improve performance, you must use the Custom SCAPI Configuration Utility. Two settings are added to this utility:
  • ManageInternalLinks: You can only change this setting with the Custom SCAPI Configuration Utility.
  • Resolve Posting Name Collisions: You can use Resolve Posting Name Collisions to speed up URL transformations when you have large numbers of children in each channel.
When you use the Resolve Posting Name Collisions property, none of the children can have the same name for the same parent. Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) currently includes a feature that allows multiple postings to have the same name in the same channel. To use this feature, you must examine all the children to find a newer name, and then you must determine which name is more recent. This work takes a lot of time, and the feature has a considerable performance impact on larger sites. With this setting, you can click to clear the ResolvePostingNameCollision check box, and MCMS serves the first posting that matches the name. If the channel contains no postings with the same name, the only effect is that the URL transformation is done faster.
