SAK: Cannot Configure IP Address for Disconnected Network Adapter (815322)
The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMSWhen you view the internet protocol (IP) properties of an
Network Interface using the Server Appliance Kit (SAK) user interface (UI), the
IP Address and Subnet Mask fields are blank
if the network cable is disconnected from the Network Adapter that is being
viewed.
If you enter any values into the blank fields and then click
OK, the values are not recorded and remain
blank.WORKAROUNDMethod APlug the network cable into the network adapter and then configure
it by using the SAK UI. Method BUse the Microsoft Windows 2000 Terminal Services Advanced Client
to configure the network adapter:
- On the SAK UI Web page, click Maintenance,
and then click Terminal Services.
- When prompted, type the user name and password to set up
TCP/IP for a network adapter.
- Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up
Connections.
- Right-click the Local Area Connection
that is not connected to the network, and then click
Properties.
- In the Local Area Connection Properties
dialog box, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list, and
then click the Properties button.
- Select the Use the following IP Address
option.
- In the IP address box, enter your static
IP Address.
- In the Subnet Mask box, enter the subnet
mask and the default gateway information for your TCP/IP network, and then
click OK.
- Click OK.
- Close the Network and Dial-Up Connections window.
- Close the Terminal Services Client window.
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
