FIX: Error message when parallel processing activity or a high degree of concurrent administrative activity occurs on SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services SP3: "Error: Attempting to connect to server" (814414)

SYMPTOMS

After you install SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Service Pack 3 (SP3), you receive error messages in one of the following scenarios:
  • When Analysis Services processes multiple cubes or partitions in parallel.
  • When there is a high degree of concurrent administrative activity occurring.
You might see this error message in Analysis Manager:
Error: Attempting to connect to server: <servername>; Unable to connect to the registry on the server (<servername>), or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server.
You receive this error message when you use the Parallel Processing Utility that was provided with the SQL Server 2000 Resource Kit:
Error: Attempting to connect to server: <servername> because Unable to connect to the registry on the server (<servername>), or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server. (#-2147221455;DSO)

Hotfix information
