PRB: Brazilian Currency Symbol Appears with No Space Separator in the VOD Purchases List (814263)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft TV IPG 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you view the Video on Demand (VOD) Purchases list, and you have used Brazilian currency for purchases, the currency may appear with no space between the currency symbol and the number value. For example, a purchase amount that should appear as R$ 3.99 appears as R$3.99.

CAUSE

When IPG calls cmod_ExtractFields, SeaChange returns the value R$3.99. This problem appears to originate in the Windows currency formatting API. The developers for SeaChange International also state that they have seen this problem when the server is running Microsoft Windows XP, but not when the server is running Windows 2000. This problem also occurs in any VOD client that runs against a SeaChange VOD server running Windows NT.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, the Multiple System Operator (MSO) can update the currency symbol spacing on the server where the VOD command center is located. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Regional & Language Options.
  2. Click the Regional Options tab.
  3. Customize the format of the currency symbol.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
