MSMQ: Replication to PSC Fails After Upgrading to Microsoft Windows 2000 (814028)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0

SYMPTOMS

Replication may not work if a Primary Site Controller (PSC) updates its crypto key after the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Message Queuing Primary Enterprise Controller (PEC) is upgraded to Microsoft Windows 2000 and the PSCs are not upgraded. If this problem occurs, the PSC cannot replicate to other PSCs. The PSC can only replicate to the Windows 2000 PEC.

The problem only occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • There are three or more Microsoft Message Queuing sites.
  • The PEC is converted to Windows 2000.
  • At least two PSCs are not converted to Windows 2000.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Replication service on the Windows 2000 PEC replicates the PSC key that contains the site record that is in the wrong format.
