You receive a could not insert the address error message when you insert a contact from Schedule+ in Word 2003 (813991)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to insert a contact from your Microsoft Schedule+ contact list by using the Address Book feature in Word 2003, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Word could not insert the address. One or more address fields are missing from the selected address book. Pick another address book or change your address layout and try again.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions exist:
  • You are using Microsoft Exchange with Schedule+.

    -and-
  • You have not upgraded from Microsoft Outlook 98 to Microsoft Outlook 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2002, or Microsoft Outlook 2003 for your mail client.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Install Outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 uses your existing Schedule+ contacts to create an updated Outlook contact list that can be used in Word 2003. To install Outlook 2003, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click the Setup file in the Office folder of your Office 2003 CD-ROM.
  2. In Office 2003 Setup, click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
  3. On the Custom Setup page, click Microsoft Outlook.
  4. Click Run from My Computer, and then click Update.

Method 2: Open Your Schedule+ File in Word

If you first open your Schedule+ file, you can then insert a contact from your Schedule+ contact list. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Word 2003.
  2. On the File menu, click Open.
  3. In the Files of type list, click Schedule+ Contacts.
  4. Locate the folder that contains your Schedule+ file, and then click the file that you want.
  5. Click Open.

    Note You do not see a file open in Word. You can now insert a contact from your Schedule+ contact list.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
