FP2002: FrontPage 2002 Upgrade Does Not Detect Qualifying Product During Setup (813734)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install FrontPage 2002, you may receive the following error message:

Error 1608. Setup was unable to locate a qualifying product.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if any of the following conditions exist when you try to install an upgrade version of FrontPage 2002:

A qualifying product is not installed on your computer.
You do not provide a qualifying product disk during FrontPage Setup.
A qualifying product is installed on your computer, but FrontPage Setup cannot detect it.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Reinstall FrontPage 2000

Reinstall FrontPage 2000 before you upgrade to FrontPage 2002.

Method 2: Provide the FrontPage 2000 Setup Disk When Upgrade to FrontPage 2002

When you try to upgrade to FrontPage 2002, Setup may not detect an existing or qualifying upgrade product. When this occurs, you receive the following error message:

Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine. Please select the drive where a qualifying product can be found.

When you receive this error message, insert the FrontPage 2000 CD-ROM, and then click the CD-ROM drive that contains the FrontPage 2000 CD-ROM.
