SYMPTOMS
When you access a Web Folder on a computer configured with
either Microsoft Office XP or the client components for Microsoft SharePoint
Portal Server 2001, you may receive one of the following error messages if the folder
is behind a firewall or proxy server, and proxy authentication is required:
Cannot connect to the Web server [Folder URL]. The server
could not be located, or may be too busy to respond. Please check your typing
or check to make sure the Web server is available.
-or-
Documents in the folder are not available. The folder may
have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection
to the server.
When you open documents directly from Office XP
(instead of opening them from My Network Places or the Web Folder shell
extension), you may not see the problem right away, but when you
prepare to save the file, or when you reopen the file after you close it, you may see one of
these error messages.
