You cannot send an e-mail message with an attachment in another program unless Outlook 2003 is running (813614)

SYMPTOMS When you try to use a MAPI-compliant program such as
Microsoft Word to send an e-mail message with an attachment, the message may
not be sent until after you start Outlook.CAUSE This problem occurs because programs that use simple MAPI
cannot send an e-mail attachment when Outlook is not running.WORKAROUND To work around this problem, use either of the following
methods.Method 1: Start Outlook Before You Send the MessageMake sure that Outlook is running when you send an attachment
through a program that uses simple MAPI. Method 2: Start Outlook After You Send the MessageImmediately after you click Send to send the
message, start Outlook.
Note Outlook may not send the message immediately, expect a short
delay.STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
