SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a MAPI-compliant program such as Microsoft Word to send an e-mail message with an attachment, the message may not be sent until after you start Outlook.

This problem occurs because programs that use simple MAPI cannot send an e-mail attachment when Outlook is not running.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Start Outlook Before You Send the Message

Make sure that Outlook is running when you send an attachment through a program that uses simple MAPI.

Method 2: Start Outlook After You Send the Message

Immediately after you click Send to send the message, start Outlook.

Note Outlook may not send the message immediately, expect a short delay.

STATUS
