Newly Created Channels Inherit Incorrect Navigation Template (813476)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) Publishing API to create a new channel, a navigation template that is associated with the new channel through the API adds a new row to the CMS database, and a template GUID is matched with the parent channel's navigation template. If an MCMS user changes the navigation template for the channel and subchannels are added to this revised channel through the API, MCMS database corruption may result. When this occurs, the navigation template is not inherited from the parent channel. Instead, a template that you do not want is set on the newly created channel.
