SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install Microsoft Office 2003 Beta 2 , you
may receive the following error message: Error 1923.
Service 'Office Source Engine' (ose) could not be installed. Verify that you
have sufficient privileges to install system services. The
installation does not work, and you cannot install any Microsoft Office 2003
Beta 2 products. CAUSEThe behavior occurs when you remove Office 11 Beta 1 or
Microsoft Office 2003 Beta 2 and have the following utilities running on your
computer
- Intel Graphics Tray (Igfxtray.exe)
- Hotkey Command Module (Hkcmd.exe)
these utilities are part of the Intel 82810 Graphics Contoller
or the Intel 82815 Graphics Controller. When you remove either
Microsoft Office 11 Beta 1 or Microsoft Office 2003 Beta 2 , the Office Source
Engine is marked for deletion. If both the Lgrxtray.exe file and the Hkcmd.exe
file are running on your computer, Office Setup cannot remove the Office Source
Engine correctly. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this behavior, restart your computer and install
or re-install Microsoft Office 2003 Beta 2 . When you restart your computer, it
unloads the utilities and allows for the deletion of the Office Source Engine
files.
