Program That Is Set to Run in Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode Reports That It Is Set to Run in Windows XP Mode (813158)

SYMPTOMS

When you set a program to run in a compatibility mode on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, the setting may be ignored, and the program may still run in Windows XP mode. For example, when you set a program to run in Microsoft Windows 2000 compatibility mode, the program may still report that it is set to run in Windows XP mode.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a).

    -and-
  • You configure your program to run in a compatibility mode.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
