SYMPTOMS
You may experience a problem when Exchange 2000 receives a
message over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and the message ends the
data frame with:
Exchange server responds to the pipelined
QUIT command with "500 5.3.3 Unrecognized Command." Exchange server
responds with a 250 in response to the CRLF.CRLF, and then responds with "500
5.3.3 Unrecognized Command" in response to the
QUIT command. The same behavior occurs with other pipelined commands
such as
RSET.

Hotfix Information
A supported fix
is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem
that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are
experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing.

pack that contains this hotfix.
