Error Message if Speech Recognition Is Not Configured Correctly (812441)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:
The following application has encountered a problem and needs to close. application name: iexplore.exe app version: 6.0.2600.0 mod name: msctf.dll version 5.1.2600.0 Offset: 0001593f

CAUSE

This issue may occur if Speech Recognition is turned on but is not configured correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options.
  2. Click the Languages tab, and then click Details.
  3. Click Speech Recognition, and then click Remove.
  4. Click OK.
