SYMPTOMSAfter you complete the following steps, Microsoft Excel
worksheets in a workbook may disappear when you click them, and you may be
unable to select individual cells in the workbook:
- You are working with frames in an HTML document.
- You create hyperlinks to Excel workbooks from a sidebar
page that target the main frame pane.
- When you click the first hyperlink to populate the main
pane with one Excel workbook, the Excel workbook appears as you
expect.
- You click the other hyperlink after you use the first
hyperlink. You do so to populate the main pane with another
workbook.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if the Excel object is not properly
substantiated when you activate the second hyperlink.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, use either of the following
methods:
- Refresh the whole frameset to properly substantiate the
Excel workbook.
- Save the Excel workbooks as an HTML file:
- In Excel, open the first workbook.
- On the File menu, click Save
As.
- In the Save as type box, click
Web page(*.htm, *.html).
- Click Save: Entire Workbook, and then
click Add interactivity if you want viewers of the workbook to
interact with the contents of the workbook.
- If you want to use this feature, click
Autorepublish every time this workbook is saved, click the
folder in which you want to save the file, and then click
Publish. You can now link to an HTML version of your workbook
from any page in your frameset.
