VSO2002: Large Unexpected Increase in File Size After You Insert a Picture into Your Drawing (810627)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
SYMPTOMSWhen you save your Visio drawing after you insert a picture
from a graphic image file into the drawing, there may be a large, unexpected
increase in the size of your drawing file. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Visio converts the inserted
picture to a 32-bit bitmap. As a result, when you save your drawing that
contains the inserted picture, the size of your drawing file is increased by
the size of the bitmap image. In some cases, the increase in file size can be
up to 10 times the size of the original picture. Visio converts graphic images
such as .tif, .jpg, or .gif files, to bitmap format when they are inserted into
a drawing. STATUS This
behavior is by design.
