Smart Display: Remote Desktop Web Connection Is Not Removed When You Remove Smart Display (810287)

SYMPTOMS

When you remove the Microsoft Smart Display software from your computer, the Microsoft Remote Desktop Web Connection software unexpectedly remains installed on your computer.

CAUSE

The Smart Display installer does not remove the Remote Desktop software. You must manually remove Remote Desktop in a separate operation.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, manually remove the Remote Desktop software from your computer.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to your computer as Administrator.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Click Add/Remove Windows Component.

    This generates a list of installed Windows components.
  5. In the Windows Components Wizard, click Internet Information Services, and then click Details.
  6. Click Worldwide Web Service, and then click Details.
  7. Click to clear the Remote Desktop Web Connection check box, and then click OK to close the World Wide Services Details window.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet Information Services window, and then click Next.

    The Windows Component Wizard now removes the Remote Desktop Web Connection software.
  9. Click Finish, and then click OK to close Add/Remove Programs.
