You can combine text and graphics in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh
if you use the Create Publisher command on the Edit menu. The previews
for all Apple editions are designed to show either text or graphics.
When Word places mixed text and graphics in an edition, it previews
only the text portion of the file. This feature works correctly if you
only select a single graphic when you choose the Create Publisher
command. However, if you select the paragraph mark following the
graphic or any other text when the Publisher is created, no graphic
appears in the Subscribe To preview.
MORE INFORMATION
Specifically, Apple uses an edition format named "PRVW" to preview the
data shown in the Subscribe To preview. When only text is in the
Publisher, only the text is displayed because the format TEXT is allowed by
the PRVW format. Similarly, if you publish a single graphic without a
space or paragraph return selected, it is previewed as expected because it
uses the PICT format. However, when text is mixed with any other
format, Word uses the RTF format, which is not understood by the PRVW
format.
NOTE: Any text included in the RTF-formatted selection displays in the
Subscribe To preview.
