Datacenter Configuration Manager Tool Incorrectly Reports That "Configuration Is Valid" (330200)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Windows 2000 Datacenter Configuration Manager tool (Cfgcmp.exe) to compare the computer's current configuration with the computer's original hardware and software configuration, Cfgcmp.exe returns the following result:

Configuration is valid

This behavior occurs even though Cfgcmp.exe lists several critical differences between the current configuration and the original configuration.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
