SYMPTOMS

An ASCII file transfer in HyperTerminal (Hyperterm.exe) may be slow if you use the Echo typed local characters locally option.

CAUSE

This problem is related to a timing synchronization problem.

RESOLUTION

Some chipsets may provide better file-transfer performance by turning off the Echo typed local characters locally option before you perform an ASCII file transfer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
