XADM: GWART Is Not Updated When You Remove a Connector (329605)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q329605

SYMPTOMS

After you remove a connector in a mixed Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server environment, e-mail messages you send may be returned with non-delivery reports.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the LegacyGWART attribute of the site addressing object may not be updated when you remove a connector in a mixed Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server site or organization. The site addressing object maps to the Gateway Routing Tree attribute in Exchange Server 5.5.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the routing calculation server. This recreates the LegacyGWART attribute. To change the routing calculation server, change the RID master attribute of the site addressing object. The routing calculation server is also named the Routing Information Daemon, or RID Master. To change the routing calculation server:
  1. Start Microsoft Exchange Administrator. To do so, click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
  2. Under the organization, expand the site container, and then click Configuration.
  3. In the right pane of the Microsoft Exchange Administrator, double-click Site Addressing.
  4. In the Routing calculation server list, click the Exchange Server 5.5-based server or a server other than the server that you are currently using.
  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
