This article was previously published under Q329186 SYMPTOMS When you try to view a .tif file in Internet Explorer on a
computer on which the German version of Windows 2000 is running or on which the
German Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) is running, Internet Explorer may
not open the .tif file correctly.CAUSEThis problem can occur you started the Imaging tool
(Kodakimg.exe.mui) on a computer on which the German version of Windows 2000 is
running or on which the German MUI is running. When you start the German
version of the Imaging tool, it changes the default value of the following
registry key from Imaging.Document (English) to
Imaging.Dokument
(German): HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{02B01C80-E03D-101A-B294-00DD010F2BF9}\ProgIDThis
change interrupts the CLSID/ProgID loop by creating a mismatch between the
default value for the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.tif registry key and
the default value for the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{02B01C80-E03D-101A-B294-00DD010F2BF9}\ProgID
registry key: - The HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.tif registry key
contains the ProgID for the program that is associated with the ".tif"
extension. The default value for this key is
Imaging.Document.
- The HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.Imaging.Document\CLSID
registry key contains the CLSID for the Imaging.Document ProgID. The default
value for this key is {02B01C80-E03D-101A-B294-00DD010F2BF9}.
- The HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{02B01C80-E03D-101A-B294-00DD010F2BF9}\ProgID
registry key contains the ProgID that is associated with the CLSID. The default
value for this key is Imaging.Document. However, when you run
the German MUI version of the Imaging tool, the default value for this key
changes to Imaging.Dokument.
Note that the ProgID in the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.tif
registry key does not match the ProgID in the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{02B01C80-E03D-101A-B294-00DD010F2BF9}\ProgID
registry key. When this occurs, version 6.0.2713.1500 (or later) of the
Shdocvw.dll file prevents Internet Explorer from opening .tif files.
