WD2002: Text Is Spontaneously Generated in Document or Dialog Boxes (328932)

You may experience either or both of the following symptoms:
- After you open a Word 2002 document, text may spontaneously appear in your document.
- When you work with dialog boxes, text may spontaneously appear in the dialog box.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if the Microsoft Office XP Speech Recognition feature is installed on your computer. The Speech Recognition feature produces text or input for any noise that is picked up by your microphone.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods to turn off the Speech Recognition feature in Word 2002:
- In Word, click to clear the check mark to the left of the Dictation command or the Voice Command command on the Tools menu.
- In Word, click Microphone on the Language bar.
NOTE: Speech recognition is enabled when your microphone is turned on and you can see either Dictation or Voice Command selected on the Language bar. If you minimize the Language bar, you can also view the Speech command on the Tools menu. If there is a check mark to the left of the Speech command, speech recognition is enabled.
