FIX: Infinite Recursion Detected During Execution of Calculated Member (328878)

SYMPTOMS

When you use XML for Analysis (XMLA), with Connection Pooling enabled, as a middle tier component to connect to, and to issue queries against Analysis Services, you may receive the following error message when the application is under a heavy user load:
An unexpected internal error has occurred.

Infinite recursion detected during execution of calculated member <member name>

CAUSE

Allowing another query to execute in a session before the dataset result from the previous query is released in the Analysis Services provider.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: The following hotfix was created before the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3.
