SYMPTOMS

If you try to move a file to a Compact Flash (CF) card, but you remove the CF card before the file move finishes, a folder may be created in main memory that is named CF Card. The file is moved to the CF Card folder in main memory instead of to the physical CF card as you expect. You do not receive an error message.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the storage card uses a non-standard naming convention, such as "CF Card x." This problem does not occur if the CF card uses the standard naming convention that is "Storage Card x." On devices that have two or more memory storage options, the storage card is assigned a name that is based on the memory type as follows:
  • MultiMedia Card (MMC) slots
  • Secure Disk (SD) slots
  • CF slots
The following are examples of names that can be assigned to the storage card:
  • CF Card x
  • SD Card x

RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem, do not remove the memory card until the file is saved to the storage card.
